This is the time of the winter solstice and the birth of the Christ child, the King of Kings, the Love & Light of the World. Three wise men brought gold, frankincense and myrrh followed a new star to Mary and Joseph in the humble stable.
In the last two millennia, Christianity greeted the coming of the son of God, the Prince of Peace who told us that the Kingdom of God is Within each of us, to love ourselves and to love each other ...mind, body and spirit.
Grianstad Gheimhridh meaning the "Stopping of the Sun" or Sun stop of Winter. These few days are the shortest days of Light of the year in the northern hemisphere. At sunrise, our ancestors would greet the sun with gratitude and reverence for they knew without it they would not have the food of summer and autumn to survive the winter and they might freeze to death.
The Ancient Tri Spiral from the ancient temple of Newgrange on our beautiful, collector Tree of Life medals is an exact copy through tracing of an ancient carving on the large stone inside and towards the back of the solar chamber. Newgrange or Sí an Bhrú is one of Éire’s and the planet’s oldest and most sacred places. Sí an Bhrú is a massive solar chamber and its two tri spiral stone carvings date to at least 3,200 BC. They are thus older than Stonehenge and older than the oldest of the pyramids in Egypt. At over 5,200 years old - the tri spiral carving is one of the world’s oldest symbols.
The first rays of morning sun would come and will come this December 21st through the entrance roof box and the single beam of light reaches the ancient stone carving and then slowly the whole temple is beautifully illuminated with the light of the Sun.
The ceremonial monuments in the Brú na Bóinne valley in the "Royal County" of Meath - Cnogba (Knowth), Dubhadh (Dowth) and Sí an Bhrú (Newgrange) - are among the most important ancient sites in the world. They have the largest collection of ancient monuments and art in Europe and they are UNESCO world heritage sites.
People now accept that these incredible feats of engineering could not have been built by stone age farmers. They show advanced knowledge of engineering, architecture and the movements of planet earth around our life giving Sun.To our ancestors, the Tri Spiral may have the represented spiraling energy of this world and the universe as they saw it. Some believe they represent the primary elements - Sun, Earth, Water or Father Sun, Mother Earth & the beautiful croíation of that Union ... the spiral and cycle of life ... the feminine and masculine energy of the infinite Universes.
The tri spirals likely represent spiralling energy. We are energetic beings of Light and Sound. Everything in our multiverse is energy and the spirals may represent the energy of human beings, Mother Earth and our powerful Sun and multiverse. I believe it represents this spiralling divine energy and the Interconnectedness of all things or Oneness.
